David Shaw has drawn and painted most of his life, but has been most active as a painter in the last 5 years or so. Initially he was a self-taught artist who painted in oils and watercolours; however, he participated in a part-time course at the Leith School of Art in early 2021 and is now (Dec 25) on a year-long course there, studying and practising figure and landscape painting.
While still developing his technique, David loves landscape, seascape and colour, the texture of oil paint and the immediacy of water colour. He has produced a number of portraits and other figure-work, such as capturing the movement of dancers.
He is always delighted to receive commissions and has completed an African wildlife landscape, portraits and abstract paintings for clients.
